Wow - I have fallen behind on posting! And I've been told that I'm posting pictures, but not enough writing - so I figured I would update folks on the latest goings ons in the lives of the 4 Hutchins.
JORDAN - Our poor darling has her first ear infection! She has been very fussy over the past week, especially the past weekend, which I was incorrectly attributing to the second tooth that is erupting (appropriately painful sounding term). When she was unhappy after coming to bed with mommy, I knew that something was definately wrong. It's so hard to diagnose what is wrong with these little beings... But I did my online research, and found that one of the symptoms of ear infections is the "split personality" that Jordan was displaying. Happy and laughing one minute, and inconsolable the next. I guess ear pain comes in waves... So I took her to the pediatrician, and the right ear was red, swollen, and infected. So - Jordan has been sucking down amoxicillin (which must taste good, because she eagerly slurps it down), and has had lots of tylenol, but she seems to be feeling much better, and we are thrilled to have our happy girl back. :)
BJ - Dear husband was home sick for 2 days this week -either he caught Jordan's cold, or she caught his cold... But after sleeping for a solid 2 days, he has recooped and is back at work. Elk season has arrived (VERY soon after deer season), so he is preparing to leave the homestead and hit the mountains for a very concentrated 4 day effort to "bring home the meat" (and horns, god willing). Hunting is such an exciting time for BJ, not only the hunting, but the comradarie involved with it all - the story telling, the pre- and post- hunt gatherings, even the meat cutting, not to mention the beer drinking that goes along with all of it (except for that actual hunting part). Anyhow, his hunting party filled 6 of 7 deer tags, plus one road kill, which just happened to be the biggest buck of all. This dandy was an unfortunate accident, for both truck and deer, but rather than let it go to waste, it was drug into the woods, beheaded, and will end up on the fellow's wall, as an inspirational deer, to remind us all that huge bucks like it do exist... Short of the road kill, may everyone have the same success with elk as with deer.
COBEY - Is sorrowful as his unfortunate new role as a second rate citizen in our household. Poor Cobinator, summertime was fine, he enjoyed all of his time inside. But now that it is cold and raining, he wants to be INSIDE. This is not desirable for Ashley, for so many reasons.... #1 - he gets dirty outside in the wet mud. #2 - he is shedding something terrible right now, and I hate to see dog hair stuck to everything, including Jordan's face. #3 - he isn't burning his energy outside, so he tries to play with Jordan and I on the floor, which neither one of us much care for. #4 - he really gets bored inside, and wants to go outside, and then the cycle starts again.... Cobey lives for the moments that his daddy is home, and goes down to the garage, and he can come and go from inside to outside (of the garage) as he pleases. It's tough to be a dog. :(
ASHLEY - Has been missing her husband as he has been very wrapped up in deer hunting (and all of the activities that go with), even long after he bagged his buck he was assisting in retrieving and cutting up everyone elses bucks... I've in the past been a part of all of this activity, but it is harder to do with Jordan, especially when meat cutting is simply an excuse to get together and drink beer (I used to be there, I know). I'm glad that this elk season is short, so that maybe I can have BJ back when it is over.
I'm also getting ready for our trip to Florida over Thanksgiving! Already making lists, and researching ways to survive air travel with an 8 month old!!!!
And I'm trying really hard to find my work groove again. Trying to enjoy work the way that I used to. Little success on this endeavour, but I will continue to try.
So, that's it - the update, if you were at all interested. The weekend is coming, so there should be many pictures and videos to come. :)
Hope all is well in everyone elses worlds!
